The Mystery Method, put forward by the founder of the seduction community, Erik Von Markovich also known as “Mystery” has been one of the most used methods of picking up women the world has seen. However, with new techniques that are closer to real game being propounded by movies like ‘Hitch’ and the ‘Wedding Crashers’, the Mystery Method has become jaded and has also come under a lot of criticism from institutes of more natural game techniques.  

The Mystery Method covers three basic stages involved in the process of meeting a woman and then taking her to bed—Attract, Comfort (build a comfort level) and Seduce.

However, these stages and various other concepts crucial to the Mystery Method have been minutely examined and criticized by critics and founders of newer game techniques.   

There are certain concepts in the MysteryMethod that have come under a lot of criticism like “Negging”, which refers to putting down a woman or insulting a woman that you are interested in so as to lower her “value” in comparison to your own.

According to critics, this reeks of and advocates mistrust and assumed lower value among followers of the Mystery Method. Another technique used in the Mystery Method, “Peacocking”, which refers to emulating the peacock when it comes to attracting attention and therefore using attention catching fashion statements and clothes and accessories that stand out has also been severely rubbished.

Mystery even to this day still peacocks in wild outfits and goggles.

Apart from these concepts of the Mystery Method not being universally accepted any more, an important stage in the Mystery Method, “Comfort” has also come under a lot of flak. According to the Mystery Method, building comfort is important if you want a woman to feel secure with you, spend time alone with you and eventually sleep with you. But critics argue that in a number of relationships, Comfort might come way before attraction or long after seduction has taken place and that it is actually not really necessary to build comfort in order to seduce your target.

Pick up workshops and training institutes nowadays therefore do not advocate the following of any certain method or technique in order to succeed in the art of seduction.

Another major shift that has taken place since the invention of the MysteryMethod is the shift towards more natural game techniques, where things may or may not happen in a preplanned stage sequence but instead follow a natural course of action. All these combined factors have rendered the Mystery Method more or less obsolete in today’s world.

How The MysteryMethod Got Started ...

There are always newer techniques out there coming to rise and this in a way is making the mystery method obsolete and the "old" method to use to pick up women. Natural game and approaching women by being genuine seem to be the most accepted forms of seduction these days.

So What Is The Mystery Method?

There are basically three stages involved in the process of approaching a women, gaining report with her and then ultimately seducing her. The first stage the method teaches in ATTRACTION. This is all about approaching and running attraction routines, getting her interested and then moving onto the next step which is COMFORT. 

The mystery method spend a lot of time in comfort and they find that it usually takes a good seven hours from first meeting a girl to getting her into bed. This is the rule of thumb the method teaches. The next step is SEDUCE.

Now speaking personally I'm not the biggest fan of negging girls as the mentality suggests you assume the girl is higher value than you before approaching her. Negging can also been seen as insulting her or putting down a woman so as to DHV yourself for not being needy, clingy or showing interest in her. 

Mystery method fans seem to be turning away from this method of teaching and moving towards a more natural way to approach and seduce women.

Why does mystery method teach peacocking and what is it?

Peacocking is also another term used to describe that you need to make yourself stand out in a way, so if you dress to stand out in a bar then it helps. I agree with this and think it's a great idea to stand out in bars. The mystery method have been operating for a few years now and are highly successful throughout the world but more notably in the USA and Canada.

Their workshops and boot camps are not longer run by mystery himself but his instructors. They run workshops in most cities including San Francisco, Miami, Sydney, Los Angeles, New York and the list goes on.

What is a Neg and how do you use it?

Mystery Method have generated a lot of media attention recently over their concept negs what exactly is an example of a neg? The oft-quoted example is the comment:

• "Nice nails, are they real? No? Oh, well they're nice anyway."

The great thing about negs is that they are intended to be false disqualifiers and are intended to lower the target's i.e. (the girl you're interested) value compared to the pick up artist. They are not really insults so to speak and the mystery method still teach them. Their aim is to convey you're not sexually interested in her.

In Neil Strauss's television interview on the view he explained that some men will show lack of disinterest by passively ignoring women around them, bust since they don't notice him she wont know that he's not interested. 

Therefore the purpose of a neg is to show actively that you're not interested in her by disqualifying yourself as a suitor. This has worked for many years for mystery and this is why he teaches it. 

Some more examples of negs that mystery method teach are: 

"It's too bad I'm gay or you'd be so my type"

"You are too much of a nice girl for me"

So Who Is A Pick up Artist These Days?

If a guy significantly improves his women-skills, he may be labeled a pickup artist (PUA) or player. But not all skilled pickup artists are interested in one-night stands…

The term pick up artist has negative connotations attached to it. It brings to mind sleazy men wearing expensive clothing, too much jewrellrey and have no soical life. They're are predators out to get the next conquest or one night stand. 

However this could not be further from the truth.
